Hello and welcome — I’m so glad you’re here.
The path that brought me to Green Door is not one I ever could have imagined.
My creative journey began during a difficult chapter of my life. At a time when life had slowed down and many of the things that once filled my days had changed, creativity quietly found its way in.
I had never thought of myself as an artist. In fact, I didn't believe I was particularly creative at all.
The Gift of Creativity
About three years ago, I became a caregiver for my father. When he moved from palliative care to hospice care at home, I closed my business and became his full-time caregiver.
There were long periods when there was little I could do except sit with him.
So I began to create.
Slowly, something unexpected happened. What started as a way to occupy my hands and quiet my mind became something much more. I began discovering a creative part of myself I hadn't known was there.
With each brushstroke and each new creation, that little spark grew.
Today, I call myself a Creative.
And I believe discovering creativity during those final weeks with my dad was one of the last gifts he gave me — one I will always treasure.
Creativity & Well-Being
That experience changed the way I thought about creativity.
I began to understand how valuable it can be to have something that allows us to slow down, focus our attention, express ourselves and simply be present for a while.
It also strengthened something I already believed deeply: our well-being deserves our attention.
For me, creativity became one of the ways I could make room for that.
And I began wondering:
What if there were a place where other people could discover that too?
Not somewhere you had to be an artist.
Not somewhere you had to be good at something.
Just somewhere you could walk through the door, try, explore, connect and create.
That idea eventually became Green Door Art & Wellness Studio.
Why the Green Door?
The green door itself has a very personal meaning for me.
During another important period in my life, I pictured an old wooden green door set within a garden. On one side was where I had been. Walking through it represented moving toward something brighter — a place filled with light, possibility and a renewed sense of direction.
That image stayed with me.
The Green Door became a symbol of possibility, change and moving forward.
And eventually, it became the name of the space I wanted to create for others.
Always Learning
My experiences have also led me to become a lifelong learner.
Along the way, I have studied and trained in areas that deepen my understanding of well-being, including Life Coaching, end-of-life support as a Death Doula, and natural herbalism, with continued learning in breathwork and Reiki.
But Green Door isn't about credentials or having all the answers.
It's about creating a welcoming space where people can explore creativity, learn something new, connect with others and perhaps discover something about themselves along the way.
The Door Is Open
My journey continues, and so does Green Door.
My hope is that this studio will always be a place where you can come as you are — to create, learn, share, connect, slow down or simply enjoy a little time for yourself.
You don't have to consider yourself an artist.
You don't have to know what you're doing.
You only have to be willing to begin.
